We can go through endless ‘full name’ web-site iterations. We probably should as ideas come into our head but the ‘idea’ I’d really like is the one where the idea can be come an ‘it’.
Remember Xerox? They defined copying. To copy something became to ‘Xerox it’. Now to search for something on the web you ‘Google it’ whether you actually use Google or not. There is often even an ‘eBay it’ to sell something on the web but this is not as generic. It does not mean sell something via any means on the web (where as ‘xerox it’ means to copy something whether you’re xeroxgraphy or some other technology.)
So what do we do? What is our ‘it’? Test it? Approve it? Certify it? ‘It’ needs to be something that customers do. Maybe our ‘it’ is for consumers to ?? it in order to see if it is safe. Again, an ‘empty’ name becomes a better opportunity to define or ‘fill the name.’ Yahoo and Google were words prior to these companies defining them. Apple is a fruit that had nothing to do with computers. We don’t need this answer today but lets let it mull over and maybe something will come to us.

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackThe goal is appropriately huge. To be worthy of the second half of our lives, the goal needs to be very far-reaching indeed. Nothing less than defining the very concept of an approved company. We want them to covet our seal of approval. And the big winner is humanity. We need accountability for corporations. This vehicle is the way to drive that accountability.
World Product Foundation is fairly broad and leaves lots of room. Apple or Google are really the ultimate goal in a name. They sound inherently cool. They are memorable. They have zip. They feel fresh and young. Perhaps we need to sit down with a dictionary. Some ideas:

Equity Foundation (I like “foundation”)
Eagle Foundation

The website SustainabilityFoundation.com and .org have been bought and are parked (i.e., not active)
